Our Spugnole, or Sponges, are an inventive new shape from the pasta artisans at the Marella factory in Puglia, Italy. Also known as "Radiators," this small shape with its frilly edges holds any kind of sauce masterfully, making them a popular choice with professional chefs and home cooks alike. And because they are made by Marella, only the finest, local Certified Organic ingredients are used; that, combined with the traditional methods they use makes for a delicious and hearty pasta that swells when it is cooked and holds any sauce beautifully.
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS: We think our Spugnole are the perfect match for any kind of tomato-based sauce. Their frilly edges and swirls will swell once they're cooked, making them capture and hold onto any sauce, like our spicy Arrabbiata or classic Tomato Basil, especially well. All they need then are a finishing drizzle of some of our Italian Organic Leccino extra virgin olive oil to finish the dish.
